Google Pay is compatible with most modern Android devices from a variety of manufacturers and form factors, including mobile phones, tablets, and devices running Wear OS by Google.

In certain cases, customers may be required to complete additional verification before they can add their card to Google Pay. This measure is designed to protect your data and is based on our risk management. One of the methods used is the 3D Secure Non-Payment Flow.

What is 3D Secure and why is it used?

3D Secure (3DS) is a security protocol designed to protect online transactions and confirm the identity of the cardholder. Even if no payment is made, 3DS can be used to ensure that only authorized people add a card to Google Pay..

Verification options via 3D Secure

There are two ways customers can verify their identity through 3DS:

  1. pushTAN in the My ELBA app

While adding the card to Google Pay, the customer receives a signature request on their smartphone in the form of a push notification. Tapping the notification will redirect the customer to the My ELBA app. A screen will appear there with authentication details such as the merchant name (Google) and a confirmation button. Once confirmed, the customer will automatically be redirected back to Google Wallet to complete the process.

You can find more information about pushTAN here: [https://www.r-card-service.at/de/privat/hilfe-werkzeuge/sicherheit/pushtan.html]
  2. CardService SecureCode with SMS one-time password
If the customer does not use a pushTAN in the My ELBA app, he can alternatively use the CardService SecureCode in combination with a one-time password (OTP), which is sent by SMS. In Google Wallet, you'll see a screen where you can enter both values.

These additional security measures help protect your data and prevent unauthorized access.
