Help Security of your credit card
When it comes to credit card payments, security is very important. Therefore, high security standards are a matter of course at Raiffeisen CardService.
The most important safety precautions at a glance
Security Indicator
When ordering on the Internet, the CVV2 code (stands for: Card Verification Value), a KPN (card verification number) or the "security code" is often required. These are always the last three digits next to the signature field on the back of your Raiffeisen CardService card. The CVV2 code is a security code that is provided as an additional security feature when ordering on the Internet.
3D Secure
With 3D Secure technology, Raiffeisen CardService offers you additional protection when shopping online. After your registration, every transaction at participating Internet merchants is additionally protected. For each transaction, it is checked whether both the cardholder and the acceptance partner are the participants in the payment transactions for which they claim to be. Both Visa and Mastercard support this service.
2 Factor Authentication
2-factor authentication requires the cardholder to identify themselves via two of the following three factors:
- Something you KNOW (password, PIN, ...)
- Something you OWN (credit card, mobile phone, ...)
- Something PERSONAL from you (fingerprint, facial recognition, ...)

SMS Security Package
With the SMS security package from Raiffeisen CardService, you are always well informed. You will receive an SMS when:
- a transaction has been declined
- the card limit has been exhausted to more than 70%
- a single transaction is more than EUR 70.00
With our Gold and Platinum credit cards, the SMS security package is already included free of charge. For Classic credit cards, this package can be requested at any time by means of a change form for EUR 0.70 /month.
What you can do yourself
General safety tips
- Keep your payment receipts.
- Check your credit card statements regularly.
- Don't let your card out of your sight during the payment process.
Online Payments
When making Internet transactions, always make sure that a secure Internet connection (SSL encryption) is available and only provide your credit card details when you actually make a purchase. You can recognize SSL encryption by a visual display in the browser in the form of a key (shared or full) or a padlock (open or closed) or by the "https" in the URL. If no encryption system is offered, please order by another way.
